Digestion In The Mouth And Stomach.

The human digestive stem is made up of the mouth, the stomach,  intestinal tract, pancreas, gall bladder, and liver. Digestion refers to the breakdown of food into smaller components that can be absorbed into the bloodstream.

Digestion begins in the mouth. Food is ingested into the mouth, the teeth are responsible for tearing, crushing and chewing the food in bits of pieces. while the food is chewed and enzyme in the saliva know as salivary amylase breaks down starch into maltose. The food is then rolled into a ball by the tongue and swallowed. This type of digestion is known as mechanical digestion.

Food is sent down a long muscular tract of contraction known as the esophagus at the end of the tract the food enters the stomach where most of the chemical digestion takes place. Contraction of the digestive tract is known as peristalsis.

 Chemical digestion is the process by which enzymes act on food molecule to break it down into a form the body can use. Once the food enters the stomach hydrochloric acids helps to kill microorganisms that might be in the food and also HCL helps to break down the food into substance the body can use. Gastric Acids in the most known form of enzymes that breaks food. It is secreted by the wall of the stomach. Gastric Acid is used to break down protein into amino acids. After foods molecules are broken down into simpler forms the substances are sent to the small intestine for absorption.
